7 Hermetic Principles of the Kybalion (Kabbalah)
These principles originate from the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus, an ancient Egyptian philosopher - and are believed to govern the workings of the universe by providing a framework for understanding the relationships between the physical and spiritual realms. They are fundamental to many scientific disciplines.
Mentalism: "The All is Mind; the Universe is Mental." Reality is fundamentally consciousness, where everything physical originates as a thought.
Correspondence: "As above, so below; as below, so above." Different planes of existence mirror each other, and internal states reflect external realities.
Vibration: "Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates." Everything is in constant motion, possessing a specific energetic frequency.
Polarity: "Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites." Opposites are identical in nature but differ in degree, and can be transmuted.
Rhythm: "Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall." Life operates in cyclical waves and balanced natural phases.
Cause and Effect: "Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause." Nothing occurs by chance, and understanding this allows one to rise above automatic reactions.
Gender: "Gender is in everything; everything has its masculine and feminine principles." Active masculine and receptive feminine energies manifest across all planes of existence.
The 12 Universal Laws (Modern Expansion of the 7 Hermetic Principles)
The Law of Divine Oneness: Everything in the universe is connected and part of a greater whole. Every thought, action, and event affects the whole.
The Law of Vibration: Everything in the universe is in a state of constant vibration and operates at specific energetic frequencies. This explains the relationship between energy and matter, i.e., why your internal state or frequency attracts matching external experiences.
The Law of Correspondence: “As above, so below; as within, so without." There is a mirroring correspondence between the physical, mental, and spiritual realms so your external reality always reflects your internal mental and emotional state.
The Law of Attraction: “Like attracts like.” our dominant focus, beliefs, and energies draw similar circumstances into your life (i.e., positive thoughts and emotions attract positive experiences, while negative thoughts attract negative experiences).
The Law of Inspired Action: Manifestation and personal growth require active, intuitive effort alongside thought - aka you must take physical steps that align with your visions and goals in order to manifest your desires into reality.
The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy: Energy is never static; it’s constantly changing and transforming from one form to another, allowing us to shift our reality by raising and lowering our vibration. Higher, positive thoughts and actions can transform lower, denser emotional energy.
The Law of Cause and Effect: Every cause has an effect; and every effect has a cause. Nothing happens by chance - every action creates a corresponding reaction so our present choices shape our future experiences.
The Law of Compensation: There is a fair, balanced exchange of energy in the universe, so what you send out comes back to you whether positive or negative - or in other words - you reap what you sow. The energy, time, or value you put out into the world always returns to you in kind (through abundance, rewards, &/or outcomes).
The Law of Relativity: Everything is neutral until you assign it meaning through comparison and your personal perspective. All creation begins with a thought or idea, so challenges or situations appear heavy or light only when measured against a specific perspective.
The Law of Polarity: Everything has its opposite and opposites are necessary for existence. E.g., There can be no light without darkness, hot without cold, or love without fear - they are all the same thing in different degrees on a shared spectrum.
The Law of Rhythm: All things in the universe have a natural rhythm, cycle, tide, or pattern. This explains the ebb and flow of life like the rise and fall of the sun and moon, our seasons within and around us like winter and summer, and our varying periods of rest and growth. Understanding these phases helps you accept and flow with change rather than resist it.
The Law of Gender: There are masculine and feminine energies present in all things (yin and yang) that refer to the duality and balance of energies. Balancing these dual forces is necessary for creation, wholeness, and harmony.
Scientific Studies, Connections, Theories, & Laws
Quantum Physics: This is the branch of science that studies matter and energy at the smallest, microscopic scales - such as atoms, electrons, and photons - where physical laws behave differently than they do in everyday life. It’s Core Concepts Are:
Quanta: Energy and matter are not always continuous; they come in tiny, discrete packets called quanta.
Wave-Particle Duality: Tiny entities like electrons and light (photons) can act like both solid particles and spreading waves, depending on how they are observed.
Superposition: A particle can exist in multiple states or locations at the exact same time until it is measured or observed.
Entanglement: Two or more particles can become deeply linked so that an action performed on one instantly affects the other, no matter how far apart they are.
Uncertainty Principle: It is impossible to simultaneously know both the exact position and exact speed (momentum) of a particle with total precision.
Quantum Mechanics: This is a branch of physics that describes the behavior of matter and energy at the atomic and subatomic level. It introduces the concept of wave-particle duality, which suggests that particles can exhibit both wave-like and particle-like behavior.
First Law of Thermodynamics: “Energy cannot be created or destroyed”. It's Core Principles are:
Constant Total Energy: In a closed, isolated system, the total amount of energy stays the same over time.
Transformation and Transfer: Energy does not disappear when you use it; it only changes from one form to another or moves from one object to another.
Mass-Energy Equivalence: According to Einstein's Theory of Relativity, mass and energy can convert into each other (E=mc^2), meaning mass is a concentrated form of energy.
Time Symmetry: Physicist Emmy Noether proved that this conservation law is a direct result of time translation symmetry - meaning the fundamental laws of the universe do not change from moment to moment.
Theory of Relativity: Developed by Albert Einstein in the early 20th century, this theory describes how space, time, and gravity are all interconnected, and introduced the famous equation E=mc², which states that energy and mass are equivalent.
